These books were (still are) well beyond my knowledge and capability of reading when I bought them. The Schoenberg's book is extremely technical music wise, looking inside I must have got it in early 90's. I hope I'll be able to digest a bit now as I like both maths and music.
I couldn't remember when was my last public exam, perhaps some 30 years ago!
Most people I saw were kids of similar age as or even younger than my son of 8. If I wasn't holding my admission form I would be stopped at the door like all other parents.
Just got below this week.
I said to the teacher that the first few pieces I learnt on guitar were Christmas carol. It's easy for students to feel the joy of playing an instrument if familiar tunes are played. I now enjoy playing in group where someone could do the second voice.
